John Shears died from wounds on 9th March, 1915, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. The 2nd Gloucestershire battalion was part of 81 Brigade, 27th Division, that in the early months of 1915 were holding the line in Belgium a few miles to the south of Ypres. |
